the final countdown 🪩
Alright ladies and gents 👏 welcome back to the life of a missionary in Finland! Let's get right into those updates:
🌟 Our Ukrainian friend that I mentioned in my last email. He came to church again and so did this lovely member who could speak with him AND apparently there's another lady in the ward who is a professional translator?! So, God met our friend's needs through these lovely members and it was just wonderful. ALSO we've been continuously meeting with this friend and yesterday we invited him to be baptized‼️A decision hasn't been made yet but it was an amazing opportunity to testify to him of this most important first covenant he can make with his Father in Heaven.
🌟 CHRISTMAS PARTY! Yeah so the ward had a Christmas Party and it was so fun to watch and take part in the festivities. Hearing Santa speak Finnish was pretty cool. Although they do they Santa is a Finn....
🌟 (TITLE) Somehow there's only 6 or 7 days "working" days of the transfer-crazy. So, in Sister Perry's words..."We are in the final countdown." And there's lots of work to be done if we want to reach our mission goal of 200 baptisms before the end of the year. But God has been doing impossible math again and again, I have no doubt we can reach this goal! We're around 120 right now with 50 something on date!!
🌟 Mom lore. We went back to this wonderful Arabic couple's house and we had told them we couldn't stay long so, you know, no need to make food or anything for us. But uhm maybe something got lost in translation (actually they're just way too kind and really like feeding us) but when we showed up it was somehow more food than last time. And it was DELICIOUS. I wish my stomach was bigger for these Arabic feasts BUT I'll pop a picture down below of this meal because WOW points for presentation. Also I might have gotten fed some Arabic desserts from an older Arabic man but I mean...it happens? They're such cool people and SHOUTOUT to the member who comes with who can speak fluent Arabic!
HENGELLINEN AJATUS 💌
Our spiritual thought today comes from 1 Nephi 3:31 and 4:1
🇺🇲 31 And after the angel had departed, Laman and Lemuel again began to murmur, saying: How is it possible that the Lord will deliver Laban into our hands? Behold, he is a mighty man, and he can command fifty, yea, even he can slay fifty; then why not us?
1 And it came to pass that I spake unto my brethren, saying: Let us go up again unto Jerusalem, and let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord; for behold he is mightier than all the earth, then why not mightier than Laban and his fifty, yea, or even than his tens of thousands?
I've always really liked these verses but they especially stuck out to me as I was reading the Book of Mormon in Finnish. First of all, because I didn't realize that "mahtava" meant something more than just "awesome" but I doubt they'd be referring to God as "awesomer" in all seriousness, although it is true. But I love these verses because Nephi reminds us of a powerful simple truth. God is greater. God is greater than our biggest problem in life. God is greater than death. God is greater than our biggest fears and doubts. God's love for us is greater than anything else. There is no problem in your life that is greater than God's power and mercy. He is mighty to save, we already have the victory! We just need to stay faithful to Him and the path He showed. Never forget how great you are in the sight of God. Surely He knows what you're going through and is preparing GREAT things for your life and future. God is a loving Father. He is your loving Heavenly Father, how great is that?!
Love you all! Emails and updates would also be great haha 🔥
