"...the most beautiful eyes..." π
Okay first of all I want to say SORRY if you haven't been getting my emails! I won't lie there is a lot of you and one me soooo sometimes I seem to miss someone BUT NEVER FEAR (ÀlÀ pelkÀÀ) I have now figured out a good system and I think I have all of you now....YAY but if someone you know isn't getting them and would like to, shoot me an email and I'll add them to my list!
For those who I might have missed a few emails...I'M IN FINLAND AND I LOVE IT HERE WOOHOO
Okay anyways these weeks are flying by as I say like every single email- BUT I love y'all, I'm praying for y'all and please please shoot me an email anytime you like, I LOVE HEARING FROM YOU cuz you're the best. ALSO as of this past Saturday I've hit 3 months into the mission WHICH IS CRAZY ONLY 15 MORE TO GO!?! No jokes, that actually blows my mind. But, as always I'll get into some updates, share a spiritual thought, and then "shoutout" some fun things that happened :)
Allow me to firstly explain the title of this email with a new section we'll call...
STORYTIME:
So Sisar Wynn and I were walking to the church and this random dude bikes by and we noticed his hat was kinda fun. Sorta like cowboy but it also had a feather and lace flower attached to it? So we were like "Huh that guy had a swag hat...cool." Kept on walking and then next thing I know there he is biking next to us and so we stop and he does too, and we're like "Uh hey what's up?" He stares at us very intensely and says something like, "Ah yes! I knew it....I see your eyes and I know before I see your tag, you are missionaries." So we have a short little convo with him, invite him to the church for "game night" and he says "We'll see...I have stuff to do" aaaand yeah we continue on our merry way. THEN we're getting stuff ready for game night and one of our friends tells us that there's a man at the door who needs to speak with us...sooo we go to the door and there he is. Except it's him and like 3 of his friends...... jus kinda standing there awkwardly with all their bikes on the ground around them. And he says, "See! I had to show you the most beautiful eyes." And just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder he continues saying, (pointing to Sisar Wynn) "Yeah yours are like bright blue (points to me) and yours are like the exact opposite. Like super dark brown..." (but imagine like a strange man staring intensly at you, standing maybe a little closer than what's comfy, and a Finnish accent) So yeah that's pretty much what happened with that....very interesting...but hey I got them missionary eyes apparently haha
UPDATES:
π€ NEW FRIEND! Guys-I don't know if you remember the referral I mentioned BUT there was a lady who called us looking for peace and hope in her life, we've been meeting with her multiple days in a row and SHE WANTS TO BE BAPTIZED!?! She's so cute, and such a miracle to us.
π€ Interviews with President and Sister Lehtinen and they are SO CUTE. They're seriously the best, I feel super blessed to have them for my mission president and wife :) He's like shy and sorta silly, kinda reminds me of my own dad (Shoutout Dad I love you!)
π€ LUNCH AT BISHOPS HOUSE and let me tell y'all he has my dream house-my interior design brain was VERY happy being there and they're so nice and I felt at home super quick (also YUMMY FOOD-definitely ate too much)
π€ It's so crazy to talk with missionaries who are close to the end of their mission while I'm at the start of mine. Like our District Leader has 129 days left and he was talking about future plans and things and it freaks me out because there's so much I want to accomplish while I'm here on my mission. I want to make the days count instead of count the days haha
π€ PUSHUP CHALLENGE so we were challenged by the North Zone (missionaries in the North) to see who could do more push-ups during the week so I'll either be ripped at the end of the week or dead...stay tunedπ
SPIRITUAL HETKI (moment):
"Faith is beautiful because it persists even when blessings don’t come as hoped for. We can’t see the future, we don’t know all the answers, but we can trust Jesus Christ as we keep moving forward and upward because He is our Savior and Redeemer."
- Elder Uctdorf
Faith has definitely been somewhat of a hard concept for me to grasp. It's hard when things don't work out the way you wanted, hard to understand why bad things happen to good people BUT I've been coming to realize that bad things happen to life no matter what. The reason it's so important to know Jesus Christ is because He can make those "afflictions" or just hard times we go through make us BETTER than we were before. We can be grounded in a hope that the bad times don't last forever, maybe what happens in our life doesn't change drastically BUT when our perspective changes, our attitude changes drastically. Basically, trust God and Jesus, they're gonna take care of you π
SHOUTOUTS:
π We went to a lake with a sandy beach for Sisar Wynn's birthday and played some sports for District PDay! It was a bit cold BUT I got sunburnt?! I know that's technically a bad thing but it made me happy. Reminded me of home since I work as a lifeguard in the summer and THAT MEANS SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE! Or is it here already...?
π Tried a McDonalds Biscoff McFlurry which is supa good, I highly recommend if you like the little biscoff cookies
π Guys it's so bright when I go to bed it's crazy. It looks the exact same when I wake up as it did when I went to bed-kinda disorienting won't lie
π I forgot to mention this in my emails (I think) but the place I am in Finland-Rauma-has it's own dialect so if a Finn from Rauma tries to talk in another place they can't understand each other hahah
For example.....this is how you say "I like you"
Finnish: MinÀ tykkÀÀn sinua
Rauma: MnÀÀ tykkÀÀn snuust
Or....
Finnish: Ole niin kuin kotona
Rauma: Ol niingon gotonas
(Good luck with that one Google Translate haha)
So it's been fun to learn a little "Raum" language
π There's a cute Finnish show on YouTube yall should check out if you wanna hear what it sounds like. It's called Moomin ! (I like Nuuskamuikkunen's voice or like the little boy with the pipe/he usually wears green I think)
And that's all for this week, I'm doing well !
Kaikki Hyvin,
Sisar Dickson
Here's the Google photos for a look into the madness
