A moment for my beautiful daughter Sister Israelsen.
first day^
somewhere in the middle there^
and the last at transfer day^
Oh my lovely child. I miss you more than I can say, but I'm with you. Here is a poem dedicated to you:
I've always thought it was cool you like worms
And your love for Taiwan just confirms
You were meant to be my baby
Let's hangout one day just maybe...
And if you make a jian bing
I'll be around faster than you think
Äitisi rakastaa sua aina ja ikuisesti🤍
SPIRITUAL THOUGHT
Thou Art the Christ by Amy A. Wright
"Our love may comfort and inspire, but Their love (Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ) can sanctify, exalt, and heal. This Jesus should not be a fictional Jesus, or a simplistic Jesus, or a bodiless Jesus, or an unknown Jesus, but a glorified, omnipotent, resurrected, exalted, worshipful, powerful Only Begotten Son of God, who is mighty to save. And as a young child in the Philippines compellingly testified to me one day. 'We are worth saving!'"
It really is amazing to me how the people around us can build us up and empathize with us. Despite growing up as a competitive swimmer, I have always loved and held onto the idea that we are all on the same team- I mean in some ways, the same family, as we are all children of God. But to me, it's become so much more important to recognize how amazing it is, that even if it feels like no one understands, and maybe people are doing more breaking than building, that SOMEONE always understands. That someone is Jesus Christ. As my new comp and I were talking on the train to my new area we discussed this idea of "sitting in the mud". When our friend is going through a hard time and we don't allow them to help us we deny them the right to be our friend and sit in that mud with us. It got me thinking, how often do I do that to my Savior? How often do I sit in the mud and deny His gift, healing, and love to enter my life? So I want to invite all of us this week to let Jesus Christ sit in the mud with you. Use your trial as an opportunity to come to know your Savior and let Him make your weak places into strengths!
UPDATES
🇬🇧 We met with our young finnish friend a ton before I left-I love her and I'm gonna miss her like crazy, but I am just so excited for her to continue learning and growing her testimony in Christ and in this, His true church on the Earth today.
🇬🇧 Also met with our hungarian friend and she just asks the best questions to prompt spirit-filled, uplifting discussions. Like, she asked us if we think while we're trying to do what Jesus would, if we think we'll ever become like Him AND we were able to share that yes! Exactly that, we do these acts of faith like reading our scriptures, praying, going to church, to BECOME someone more like Christ.
🇬🇧 So. Many. Goodbyes. I am going to miss Turku so much, but that's the absolute best way to leave an area! I have so much love for the members and friends there, and just so grateful for the time and privilege I had to serve there. I mean hey, being on a mission really is just such a privilege.
🇬🇧 So yes! We're this far down the email and everyone's thinking uh did you ever even say where you are? I uh didn't-I AM NOW IN KUOPIO with my new companion Sister Rudd from the UK (hence the flags) and I will be serving as a sister training leader. Many changes and new things to learn, hence us being properly well chuffed at the beginning here!
Well that's all I got for now, I hope everyone is doing alright and hey if you're ever in the mood to write an email I know a guy who likes reading them. (It's me. I like reading them and I try to respond too even I promise) ANYWHOSIE have a great week everyone and remember to enjoy riding those waves of life in the moment!
Kaikki järjestyy,
